Sharon Walia

Lives and works in Nottingham as a video journalist formerly for Notts TV. Has a background working with refugees. 2017: Currently preparing two full length documentaries. April 2017 will be on board a ship with Refugee Rescue organisation: SEA WATCH. Would be the first documentary on the subject focused solely at sea; following the volunteers that risk their lives to give safe passage to victims of war, torture and persecution. Also working closely with anti FGM organisations to bring awareness and follow the story of Nottingham being the first city in the world to become a zero tolerance zone against FGM. (Recently filmed in Vienna at a UN conference regarding the issue with survivor and ambassador Valentine Nkoyo and her organisation The Clit Warriors.) As well as focusing on her important documentary work, Sharon is also developing two feature scripts regarding the same issues. IRAQI MIME and PETALS OF FLESH. (2015/17)
